Woodlands - Wednesday 18th October

9:25pm - Woodlands Manor

Oooh - we're getting earlier!!  The children have just trundled upstairs to their beds after another cracker of a day!  I can guarantee that within ten minutes all will be quiet – all this fresh air and different activities certainly have a positive effect on sleep.

The croissants went down a storm this morning (great breakfast!), following which we were out and about in no time.  Going deep underground for groups C and D was an absolute blast and although there may have been a couple of nerves (from both children and adults), fears were overcome, and everyone succeeded and did super well.  Yes, we scrambled through some very tight spots and yes, we got incredibly wet as we sploshed through the cave river, but the children (and staff) really did themselves proud.  We marvelled at the fossils and stalagmites, and looking at the wildlife – fish in the river and cave spiders.  Groups A and B had a great time on the canal paddling away.  The teamwork was superb, and children enjoyed learning the new skills of manoeuvring around...they also loved having a good old splash around with a water fight! After our journey down the canal, the children had great fun sliding down the canoe like a super hero and landing head first into the water.  They made quite a splash, I can tell you!

Another yumbola dinner tonight (curry and rice followed by jam sponge and custard) after which we had the great Woodlands Manor/ St. Swithun’s quiz, with a range of different rounds including sport and music and it was great fun.

Tomorrow Groups A and B are on site tackling the climbing wall, high ropes and zip wire and then Groups C and D are off to the canal to learn canoeing skills and enjoy their time on the water.

Thought I would leave you with a few quotes from today -

+ (Front person turning to the back person in the canoe just before setting off)…”Right, are you ready to shine?!”

+ (Same person at the end of their canoeing journey) … “Yes! We were all shining brightly with our canoeing!”

+ “Look at the size of those mountains!!  Are they the Brexit Beacons?”

+ “Ah yeah, I love this Welsh water!  I’m going to get a massive 2l bottle to take some home with me!”

Night night, over and out for now!
