What's been happening in Year 2?

In writing journeys in Year 2 we have just finished the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers. We really enjoyed learning lots of vocabulary to describe the exasperated and furious stationery we discovered in our own classrooms. We wrote our letters as angry stationery, and created our own class books. As well as writing, we illustrated our books too in the style of Oliver Jeffers.

In our next writing journey, we are looking at the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood, and today she came to visit our classes! We are going to be retelling it using story maps we create and lots of actions.

In maths, we have just started our new unit on multiplication and division, and of course we had to involve sweets to really understand what ‘equal groups’ means…
