Translator Visiting St Swithun's
This week, we welcomed Ruth Ahmedzai Kemp into school. Ruth is a literary translator working from Arabic, German and Russian into English. The children loved learning how translators help books to "travel" the world - so many stories a first published in other languages and, without translators, we wouldn't be able to enjoy them. Poplar and Hawthorn classes heard a Syrian retelling of Rapunzel and practised writing some Arabic letters. Maple and Silver Birch went a step further and worked together to translate the book into English! Great effort everyone.
