St Swithuns CE Primary School

Music Flood Week

This week we are excited to let you know about our annual Music Flood in school – thanks to Radley College. Throughout the week the children are taking part in inspiring assemblies, singing workshops and a group of our musicians are going to Radley College on Wednesday to be part of an improvisation workshop with a live band. On Friday, there will be a group of talented buskers on the playground so please do give them your support and appreciation from 3pm.

Yesterday, Key Stage 2 children were treated to a wonderful assembly led by three student musicians from Radley College. One of them even used to be a pupil at St Swithun's and was recognised by some of the teachers even though he had grown a lot! The Radley students began with some body percussion, then played individual pieces on their oboe, saxophone and violin before finally opening up the floor to questions. The St. Swithun's children really enjoyed the experience and listened beautifully to the music. Thank you to the Radley students and their teacher for such a memorable assembly!

This morning Key Stage 1 were treated to a singing workshop led by Tim Keasley. He engaged the children with several call and response songs and got them up on their feet doing all the actions. Their favourite was called 'Doctor Knickerbocker Number 9', maybe they'll share it with you at home!
