St Swithuns CE Primary School

Beyond Boundaries Art Competition

What a talented bunch of children we have at St Swithun’s!

Y5 & Y6 were recently invited to submit entries for an art competition run by Oxford University.  Beyond Boundaries was an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary work of a diverse range of research scientists and bring together the fields of art and science.
The competition was open to all schools in Oxfordshire, so we were absolutely thrilled to learn that the creativity of three of our students has been recognised with awards.  Huge congratulations go to Betul and Isabel in Y6 and Ailsa in Y5.  The competition was also open to children in Y7 & Y8.  Quite remarkably, three of the prize winners in these categories were St Swithun’s alumni!
The winning students have been invited to an awards ceremony this week.  Their prize-winning entries along with submissions from other entrants will form part of an in-person exhibition from 5th – 22nd August in the Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.  The university is intending to exhibit as many entries as possible, so if your child participated in this competition, you may like to visit to see whether their work is on display.

Well done to everyone who entered.  The standard this year was really fantastic.  Enormous congratulations, again, to this year’s lucky prize winners.
